More Interesting Evergreens for Screening

In our last blog post, we discussed my go-to trees and shrubs to create privacy on your property. Whether individual specimens or through a mass hedge planting, there are a variety of plants to create privacy for every space. This week I’m discussing some more unusual plants that can be used to create privacy. Read on to learn more.

Both of these are great options for a range of conditions from partial sun to shade. Flowers range from white to pink and all varieties are highly deer resistant.

Trachelospermum jasminoides and Gelsemium sempervirens – Evergreen Flowering Vines

Vines are a great option for anyone with a transparent fence whether faux wrought iron or chain link. Both Trachelospermum jasminoides and Gelsemium sempervirens grow quickly, flower, and hold their leaves in the winter. Gelsemium is a great choice for native plant lovers.

Fatsia japonica – Dramatic Texture for the Shade

If you have a shady spot that needs screening less than 6 feet in height consider adding Fatsia. This plant is cold hardy in a protected location and adds a ton of tropical drama. It works especially well to screen ac units.
